File a detailed reply on PM Cares Fund: Delhi High Court to Center

The Delhi High Court on Tuesday gave an exception to the Center for filing a one-page response to a PIL seeking to declare the PM Cares Fund a ‘state’ within the meaning of Article 12 of the Constitution to ensure transparency in its functioning. The Delhi High Court on Tuesday made a comprehensive demand. please respond”.

“You have filed a one page reply on such an important issue. There is not even a whisper of the argument that Senior Advocate (Shyam Diwan) is giving. The matter is not that simple. We want a comprehensive answer,” said a bench headed by Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma. The court’s remarks came after the Centre’s counsel informed that a detailed reply has already been filed in a similar petition filed by the same petitioner.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta said that the arguments of petitioner Samyak Gangwal are relevant and need to be decided. “A detailed reply may be filed as the matter will definitely go up to the Apex Court and we will have to decide on all the issues raised,” it said. /PTI
