Felt like he wasn’t trying to get me out: James Anderson on Jasprit Bumrah’s bouncers

senior England Fast bowler James Anderson has indicated that Jasprit Bumrah was not trying to get him out during the Lord’s Test, in which the Indian pacer was bombarded with bouncers.

Bumrah bowled an over in 10 balls mostly bouncers and one of them hit Anderson on the helmet. After that incident there was an exchange of words and Anderson was not happy with the Indian strategy.

He said, ‘I got a little alert because all the batsmen coming in were saying how slow the pitch is. In short, banged; It was really slow. When I came out to bat, Joe Root said that Bumrah was not bowling as fast as he usually does.

“And then, the first ball was at 90 mph and money, right? And it was like, I’ve never felt that way in my career. I thought he wasn’t trying to get me out.

He bowled an over, maybe 10, 11, 12 balls (10). He was bowling no ball after no ball, bowling short. I think he bowled two balls at the stumps which I managed to dig.

The next day Bumrah tasted his medicine but the Indian handled the England pacers well and stitched an 89-run partnership with Mohammed Shami to register a big win for the visitors.

R Ashwin, who did not play that match, also spoke about the incident between Bumrah and Anderson.

“England took the Anderson incident very personally. Bumrah said that he didn’t even know what had happened but we all came together and told him what Anderson told him and it made us angry. What happened next was extraordinary,” said Ashwin on his YouTube channel.
