FCC member calls on Apple, Google to remove TikTok

Washington—a federal communications regulator has asked Apple Inc. and Google to remove Chinese-owned TikTok from its App Store, citing security risks posed by data collected by the short-form video site on US users.

“It is clear that TikTok poses an unacceptable national security risk by combining its extensive data harvesting with Beijing’s apparently uncontrolled access to that sensitive data,” said the member of the Federal Communications Commission.
