Bihar’s absconding MLA arrested Former Bihar MLA Ranjan Tiwari, wanted by Uttar Pradesh Police for firing on police personnel, was arrested on Thursday in Raxaul near the Indo-Nepal border. He has been absconding for almost two decades
The accused had a reward of Rs 25,000 on his head. He was arrested by a joint team of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar police forces.
“The former MLA of Govindganj assembly seat in East Champaran district of Bihar was wanted in a 1998 case related to firing on police personnel in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. He was absconding for almost two decades,” East Champaran district superintendent of police Kumar Ashish told PTI.
“After completing the initial formalities, they were handed over to the UP Police for further action. We are also probing the cases registered against him in Bihar.
Raxaul Additional Superintendent of Police Chandra Prakash said Tiwari was planning to flee to Kathmandu via Raxaul.
