Delhi weather: IMD predicts moderate rain today

The India Meteorological Department has expected moderate rain in Delhi and adjoining areas on Friday.

The temperature is likely to drop marginally with the maximum temperature likely to be 32 degrees Celsius and the minimum likely to be 26 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature recorded on Thursday was 34 degree Celsius.

The relative humidity stood at 82 per cent at 8.30 am on Friday.

The IMD has also predicted a rainy weekend for Delhi, with moderate rains likely on Saturday and Sunday. Rainfall between 15.6 mm and 64.4 mm is classified as ‘moderate’.

On Friday also it rained in some parts of the city. IMD’s Palam observatory recorded 17.2 mm of rain between 2.30 am and 5.30 am on Friday, while the Safdarjung meteorological station recorded 0.2 mm of rain during the same time frame. The Safdarjung observatory recorded nearly 5 mm of rain in 24 hours from 8.30 am on Thursday.

Rain is forecast till September 14.

The rainfall in Delhi so far this month is more than the long period average. While the city has received 129.1 mm of rain till September 9, the normal period is 56.8 mm.
