Cruise ship drug raid: Nawab Malik claims Sameer Wankhede let man linked to Goa drug cartel go

NCP minister Nawab Malik continued his attack on the zonal director of NCB Mumbai on Tuesday Sameer Wankhede, alleged that he had given “safe passage” to Kashif Khan, who was present on the Cordelia cruise ship during the agency’s raid on October 2, despite a tip-off against him.

He alleged that Wankhede knew Khan and hence he let him go. The NCP leader further alleged that Khan was allegedly associated with a drug cartel in Goa. On Tuesday morning, Malik tweeted a WhatsApp chat between KP Gosavi – one of the NCB’s five witnesses in the case – and an informer. In the chat, pictures of people who were about to arrive on the cruise were shared and who could be of interest to NCB. The list includes a picture of Khan.

talking Indian ExpressMalik said, “If they were detaining people based on the information given by their informers, they included Kashif’s name and photo. Why was he not detained and later given safe passage?

An NCB official said that since nothing was found from Khan, he was let go.

To this, Malik said, ‘He didn’t get anything on Aryan Khan either. Then why was he not let go? Just because Kashif is part of Wankhede’s private army?” Malik also alleged that since Khan was associated with drug menace in Goa, no action was being taken. Khan did not respond to queries from The Indian Express.

However, the NCB said that in the last 10 months it has registered 12 cases in Goa and busted three cartels, including one of dreaded drug smuggler Tiger Mustafa. An official said that in the last three years, the maximum number of cases have been registered in Goa under Wankhede.
