Congress’ complaint of corruption to Governor ridiculous: Karnataka CM

Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Friday demanded dismissal of Congress’ complaint to Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot on corruption in the state. BJP Government “ridiculous”.

A Congress delegation, led by senior leaders Siddaramaiah and party’s state chief DK Shivakumar, met Gehlot on Thursday evening and asked him about the implementation of Article 356 and the “failure of the constitutional machinery” in the state and “large-scale corruption in the state”. requested to impose the government. ,

Speaking to media persons after attending the Constitution Day celebrations in Davangere, he said, “The letter to the Governor reflects the percentage culture that was prevalent during the previous Congress rule towards contractors. Congress leaders are the creators of cent culture. It is the Congressmen who have been increasing it (percentage) from time to time. A whispered conversation between two Congress leaders, which was recently captured by the visual media, has removed the veil of Congress’s cent culture. It is ridiculous that the same people have now filed a complaint with the Governor.”

“There is rampant corruption, misgovernance in the state, causing loss of several thousand crores to the exchequer and this has been misused by some ministers, MLAs, MPs and officials,” the petition to the governor said.

Responding to this, Bommai said, “In view of the special interest of the Congress party regarding percentage in tenders for civil works, the tenders accepted during his rule will also be scrutinised.”

Referring to the purported letter written by the contractors, Bommai said, the letter did not contain any details and did not mention any specific matter. It was a simple letter.

Bommai ordered a probe into alleged bribery allegations across the state following a letter from contractors to the prime minister on Thursday Narendra Modi to the point. He said he has asked Chief Secretary P Ravi Kumar to inquire into the allegations made by the Karnataka State Contractors Association in its letter dated July 6.

The association had said that they are asked to give around 25-30 per cent of the tender amount to the elected representatives and others before starting the work. “Contractors face an unhealthy environment and are discouraged from working on roads and buildings. They are facing an unpleasant and ugly situation in receiving tender works in various departments like Public Works Department, Minor and Major Irrigation, Panchayat Raj Engineering, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike, Health Department, etc,” the letter to the PM read.
