RIYADH: The coalition to restore legitimacy in Yemen said on Monday it had launched a “military operation” against “legitimate targets” in the capital, Saudi state TV reported.
The coalition said the operation was out of military necessity in response to threats and to protect civilians from hostile attacks.
Iran-backed Houthi militias fired missiles at Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates earlier on Monday, drawing widespread condemnation from the international community.
Meanwhile, the coalition said it conducted 14 operations targeting Houthi militias in Marib and al-Bayda during the past 24 hours, killing more than 50 fighters and destroying nine military vehicles.
