Center allocated 1.40 crore vaccines to Tamil Nadu for November: Minister

Tamil Nadu Minister Ma Subramaniam on Saturday said that the Center has allocated 1.40 crore COVID-19 Vaccine the state for November and appealed to the public to participate in the vaccination camps being organized by the health department.

The Minister of Medical and Family Welfare said here that the increase in the monthly allocation by the Center has been done after the performance of the department in immunization in the last few months.

Stating that the Center was sending enough vaccines to the state, Subramaniam said there was a demand for vaccines in May, June and July.

“After the performance of the Tamil Nadu government and based on the request of the chief minister (MK Stalin), the central government increased the allocation of vaccines for September, October and November,” he said.

He said that in September, in addition to the monthly allocation of 1.04 crore doses, an additional 43 lakh vaccines were issued by the central government and the 1.22 crore doses allocated for October were increased by three lakh.

“On the request of the Chief Minister, 1.40 crore doses have been allocated for November,” he told reporters.

The Minister requested the people to extend their cooperation to ensure Tamil Nadu becomes the first state to vaccinate 100 per cent of its population with the first dose and 50 per cent with the second dose by the end of November.

Stating that the third wave of Covid-19 was posing a threat to countries like the United States, China, Russia and Singapore, Subramaniam appealed to all to come forward for vaccination as vaccination camps were set up close to residential areas. went. Public convenience.

So far 5.73 crore people have been vaccinated in the state. Of this, 70 per cent have received the first dose while 29 per cent have received the second dose.
