(CNN) – The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention this week added a new location to its list of “very high” risk travel destinations.
The ultramodern city-state of Singapore has risen to level 4 from the agency’s highest risk category, level 3, or “high” risk for Covid-19.
According to CDC criteria, destinations in the “Covid-19 Very High” level 4 category have had more than 500 cases per 100,000 residents in the past 28 days.

However, other popular international holiday destinations remain on this highest level of alert, a testament to the continued footfall of Covid-19. The current list of Level 4 destinations includes the following:
• Austria
• Belize
• Botswana
• Croatia
• Greece
• Ireland
• Malaysia
• Switzerland
• Turkey
• United Kingdom
In the case of the UK, it has been recorded at level 4 since 19 July, and Greece has been there since 2 August.

Budapest, the capital of Hungary, was placed on a Level 3 (“high” risk for Covid) by the CDC on 18 October.

The Level 3 category applies to destinations that have reported 100 to 500 cases per 100,000 residents in the past 28 days.
Six new destinations were assigned to this “high” risk category, three of which went above level 2:
• Angola
• Djibouti
• Hungary
The Level 3 designation was good news for those interested in the following three destinations, which were previously Level 4:
• cypus
• in swaziland
• Tunisia
Level 2. some options in
Destinations with the “Level 2: Covid-19 Moderate” designation have seen 50 to 99 Covid-19 cases per 100,000 residents in the past 28 days.
Popular destinations in this low-risk category as of October 18 include the following:
• Dominican Republic
• Egypt
• Peru
Keep in mind the CDC list updates weekly, and your low-risk destination of choice can grow as you plan.
“Fully vaccinated travelers are less likely to get and spread Covid-19,” the agency said. However, international travel carries additional risks, and even fully vaccinated travelers may be at risk of acquiring and possibly spreading certain Covid-19 variants,” the agency said.
