Hours before the 2024 Met Gala, which Takes place on Monday, May 6 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York CityThe 29-year-old supermodel shared a behind-the-scenes glimpse of her preparation for the annual fashion extravaganza.
on that Instagram Story, Hadid posted a selfie in the car with a gold foil sheet mask over her face. The mother of one sported a blunt blonde bob hairstyle and sunglasses and added a clock sticker to her Story, signaling the countdown to the Met Gala.
Hadid’s second Story post showed a glimpse of her alleged Met Gala outfit for the evening, which appears to be custom made by American fashion designer Thom Browne. The black and white label read “Gigi Hadid” along with the tagline: “Met Gala 2024.”
“Met prep,” the Guest in Residence founder captioned another Instagram Story of her pre-Met Gala skincare. His final social media post showed a close-up image of yellow roses, in what appears to be a gesture This year’s Met Gala dress code“The Garden of Time”.
The Met Gala dress code takes inspiration from a short story of the same title, written by JG Ballard in 1962, which focuses on the theme of fleeting beauty. Attendees can adopt the obvious by wearing flowers to represent the actual garden, or wear objects that indicate the passage of time, such as watches.
It coincides with the opening of the Costume Institute’s annual exhibition, titled “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion”, which will focus on 50 historically significant pieces of fashion – some so fragile they may never be worn again. Approximately 250 items were drawn from the Costume Institute’s permanent collection, including designs from 400 years of fashion history from Elsa Schiaparelli, Yves Saint Laurent, Christian Dior and Givenchy.
The exhibition will focus on three main areas: land, sea and sky. Each “zone” will symbolize the natural materials used within it to create the garment. Sustainability will remain a major focus throughout the exhibit, emphasizing the natural world and how it has been used in fashion throughout time.
Along with Hadid, the celebrities who have been confirmed to attend this year’s Met Gala are its co-chairs: the trend Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour, Bad Bunny, Chris Hemsworth, Jennifer Lopez and Zendaya.
