Case against three in fake sign of Kripa Foundation founder: Trustee, misappropriation of money

The Vasai police on Friday registered a case of cheating, forgery and criminal conspiracy against three persons, including an office-bearer of a prominent NGO.

The complainant father in the case is Joseph Perera, founder trustee of Kripa Foundation and a Padma Shri awardee. Established in 1981, Kripa Foundation works in the field of addiction treatment for which it has been receiving grants from the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.

Recently, an amount of Rs 2.8 crore was released by the ministry for a special project initiated by the NGO run by the complainant.

Perera has alleged that one of the accused named in the FIR is an office bearer, who is in charge of checking and signing all the checks for disbursement of payment with the complainant. Perera is the principal authorized signatory, and the office-bearer named in the FIR must take him into confidence before taking any important decision.

“During my international travel, they forged my signature/used and misused my electronic signature and acted as a board of trustees without my consent after passing a forged and fabricated special resolution and made a forged document, Which is called a special circular resolution dated August 23, 2019,” read the complaint filed by Perera.

When the trust was channeling its funds through two bank accounts, the three accused in connivance with each other opened a bank account in a national private bank with the intention of defrauding and defrauding the Kripa Foundation. of misappropriation, it was alleged. ,

“Two other persons, whose services have been outsourced by the NGO, were made signatories to the trust,” Perera said, adding, “We also learned that the three released salaries to our employees and took half the money in cash, misguiding them. are doing.”

As soon as this incident came to the fore, Perera had approached the Bandra police station earlier this year. Later, when the police informed them that the incident took place under the jurisdiction of Vasai police station, another complaint application was submitted there.
“When they did not take cognizance of the complaint, we approached the court, which directed the Vasai police station to register an FIR,” Perera said.

An officer of Vasai police station said that an FIR has been registered in the matter and investigation is on.
