Case against newly opened pub in Kerala for allowing women to serve customers

The Excise Circle Office on Tuesday registered a case against a hotel, which had recently opened a pub, for allegedly violating license conditions, including non-maintenance of stock registers and allowing women to serve customers. permission was included.

Here the Excise Circle Inspector registered a case against the violation in the pub ‘Fly High’ of Hotel Harbor View and arrested its manager for the violation.

A senior excise official told PTI, “On inspection, we found various violations of the license conditions. The stock register of the pub was not maintained properly. We have found several irregularities in the register.”

The official also said that as per the provisions of the Foreign Liquor Act in Kerala, women are not allowed to serve liquor in bars and pubs and the place has violated the same.

Videos from the day of the inauguration of the pub, which was slated as “the first pub in Kerala”, has been doing the rounds on social media for the past few days showing foreign nationals including women serving liquor and working as bartenders. Was. ,

Excise sources said the stock register should be maintained and updated every morning and evening on the opening and closing of the place.

“However, the pub did not do so,” said the official.

Excise officer said case has been registered and details will be submitted to court and further action will be taken against pub by excise commissioner.
