Cancel citizenship of those who cheer for Pak: Jammu BJP leader

Those who celebrated Pakistan’s victory against India in the recent T20 World Cup match should not only be beaten up, but their Indian citizenship should also be revoked, said senior J&K BJP In a video going viral on social media, leader and former MLC Vikram Randhawa can purportedly be heard saying this.

In the video, he purportedly asks Muslims to offer namaz on WhatsApp instead of “occupying the streets”.

When contacted, BJP chief spokesperson Sunil Sethi tried to distance the party from Randhawa’s remarks. He said Randhawa would have made the comment in his personal capacity. “We want inclusive growth for all sectors,” he said. “For us, people of all regions of Jammu and Kashmir are equally important and we want peace and progress in the entire Union Territory.”

Jammu’s Senior Superintendent of Police Chandan Kohli said, “Cognizance of the matter is being taken.”

In the video, Randhawa purportedly says, “These 22- or 23-year-old girls, who walk around in veils in Jammu, were throwing their jackets in the air in Kashmir and raising pro-Pakistan slogans. And these girls in the age group of 21-22 are praising Pakistan and they have sympathy for it.”

“All those involved in such activity should be beaten up and skinned. They should be treated in such a way that their future generations also remember the consequences of raising anti-India slogans or pro-Pakistan slogans on Indian soil. “Not only them, their parents should also realize what kind of ungrateful children they have given birth to.”

“From the very beginning, we have demanded that his degree be cancelled. We also demand that their citizenship be revoked and they should be beaten up and skinned.”

“Earlier, they used to divorce over mobile phones. So why not offer namaz on WhatsApp too, why do you guys come and take over the streets for this,” he says.

This is not the first time that Randhawa has courted controversy. A few months back, he had leveled serious allegations of corruption against a Union minister. After the minister’s defamation notice, he had publicly apologized.
