Bombay HC relieves Aryan Khan from weekly attendance at NCB Mumbai office

Bombay High Court on Wednesday Aryan Khan’s plea accepted by actor Shahrukh Khan’s son Demanded modification and relaxation of certain bail conditions including weekly attendance at Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Mumbai office in the cruise ship drug bust case.

A single-judge bench of Justice Nitin W Sambre said that Aryan Khan will have to appear before the NCB’s Special Investigation Team in Delhi, whenever called, provided 72 hours’ notice is given by the central agency.

The court said the applicant has to inform the investigating officer and provide an itinerary before leaving Mumbai.

Aryan was released from Mumbai’s Arthur Road Jail on 30 October After spending 26 days behind bars. Two days before his release on October 28, a single-judge bench of Justice Nitin W Sambre of the High Court had granted bail on 14 conditions, including appearing before the NCB every Friday.

Aryan argued through an interim application, through senior advocate Amit Desai, that since the investigation of the case has been transferred to the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of NCB’s Delhi office, his Mumbai office had The tour can be relaxed. The latter is not interrogating him and hence, may not require his presence every Friday.

Aryan had gone to the Mumbai office of NCB on November 5, 12, 19 and 26 and on December 3 and 10 as per the directions of the court.

In his application, Aryan has stated that every Friday when he visits the agency’s office in Mumbai, he is defended by police officers due to the presence of a large number of media personnel outside the NCB office. According to the petition, he is constantly provoked by the press, extensively photographed and interrogated, all this is unfair. Aryan said he has “strong roots in the society” and will cooperate whenever he is called upon.

On October 28, three accused in the case, Aryan, Arbaaz Merchant and Munmun Dhamecha, were directed to be released on bail on executing a personal bond of Rs one lakh and one or more sureties of like amount.
