BEIRUT: President Bashar Assad made a rare visit to the northern province of Aleppo on Friday to visit the country’s largest city and inaugurate a power station that was once held by rebels and suffered extensive damage during the war. State media reported.
Assad and his family’s visit to the city of Aleppo – Syria’s largest and once the country’s commercial center – was their first since government forces captured rebel-held eastern territories in December 2016 after a month of fighting.
