Amritsar: Wheat worth Rs 2 crore missing, one book

Amritsar (Rural) Police has registered a case against Custodian Inspector of District Food and Supplies Controller (DFSC) for embezzlement of wheat worth Rs 2 crore.

Police have registered a case against Custodian Inspector Jasdev Singh under sections 409, 420, 120 of IPC at Jandiala Guru police station on the complaint of DFSC Inspector Raj Shree Mehra, who is allegedly not in touch with the department since July 31.

“After his disappearance, it was suspected that he might have fled after causing some damage to the department. As per the rules, it was mandatory for Jasdev Singh to be present as Custodian Inspector in the godowns for the scheduled shipment of wheat by FCI on 5th August. Works for storage and dispatch of Punggrain stock on behalf of the Government of Punjab for FCI,” reads the complainant on the basis of which the case has been registered.

The FIR reads, “When the stock was inspected in the custody of Jasdev Singh, it was found that 8,716 quintals of wheat worth Rs 2 crore was missing from the godowns.
