Amid omicron threat, Delhi reports 86 new COVID-19 cases. Highest spike in five months – Bharat Times Hindi News

New Delhi: As efforts continue to contain the spread of the Covid-19 omicron variant, Delhi recorded 86 new coronavirus cases on Saturday.

This is the highest number of COVID-19 cases in the national capital in the last five months, even as the central government has underscored the need for vaccination on a war footing.

The casualties in Delhi so far stand at 25,100 as no one has died for the tenth day in a row.

So far in December this year, only two deaths from Kovid-19 have been registered in Delhi.

Earlier last month, Delhi had reported seven deaths due to Covid-19, while the figure stood at four and five in October and September respectively.

At present, there are 484 active coronavirus patients in Delhi, out of which 203 are reportedly in home isolation.

According to the Health Bulletin, the positivity rate of Kovid-19 in Delhi on Saturday is 0.13 percent.

So far more than 14 lakh patients have been cured of this disease.

The total number of coronavirus cases reported in Delhi so far has reached 14,42,090.

Earlier on Friday, Delhi had recorded 69 coronavirus cases with a positivity rate of 0.12 per cent.

The daily count of cases on Thursday stood at 85 with a positivity rate of 0.15 per cent, while Delhi recorded 57 coronavirus cases on Wednesday with a positivity rate of 0.10 per cent.

According to the health bulletin, a total of 66,096 tests – 59,901 RT-PCR and 6,195 rapid antigen tests – were conducted a day ago, PTI reported.

The total number of containment zones in Delhi so far is 153.
