Alliance Air plane overtakes runway after landing at Jabalpur; on check

An ATR 72-600 aircraft operated by Alliance Air overshot the runway after landing in Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur on Saturday.

All 55 passengers and five crew members on board were safe but the airline has removed the roster of pilots pending the investigation.

The 72-seater turboprop aircraft took off on Saturday at 11.30 am for a 1-hour-40 minute flight from Delhi to Jabalpur.

After landing, the plane shot down 10 meters from the runway.

“While we follow the prescribed policies/procedures as per regulatory authorities and have strict checks in both pre and post flight operations to ensure complete safety of our passengers and crew, we regret the unfortunate incident,” Read a statement from Alliance Air.

“We have taken strict note of the incident and the cockpit crew has been de-rostered. A thorough investigation has been started. The findings of the same will be shared with regulatory authorities and we will ensure that all necessary corrective action is taken,” the airline said.
