Alex Murdoff was asked if he killed his wife and son
After much wrangling from the defense and prosecution, and a dramatic U-turn by the judge, the jurors Alex Murdoff The testimony of a defendant in a double murder trial relating to a bizarre roadside shooting incident in September 2021 was heard.
Three months after killing his wife and son, Murdaugh claimed he was ambushed and shot in the head in a drive-by shooting. He later confessed to conspiring with Curtis “Cousin Eddie” Smith so that his surviving son, Buster, would receive $10m in life insurance benefits.

Waters establishes with Mr. Kelly that Murdaugh never mentioned Eddie in SLED before admitting to arranging the roadside shooting.
Agent Kelly also says that Murdaugh said that Buster Murdaugh was not a threat and denies that Eddie had anything to do with June’s murders.

Murdaugh, the highest German for the double-murder case, says that Buster is no threat and that he owed no money to drug dealers and had no outstanding debts.
Griffin jumps in and says he believes Eddie gave away all the money.

In a strange part of the interview, Harpootlian had to admit that the money Murdoff was using was “not obtained lawfully”.

Agent Kelly interrogates and asks how long he has known Eddie.
Murdaugh immediately apologized for lying to the hospital after the incident, saying he was in a bad place.
He says he has known Eddie for years and would pay him in cash or check several times a week for pills.
Murdaugh explains that the money came from fake forge accounts at Bank of America or Palmetto State Bank accounts.
When asked where Eddie got the drugs, he says: “I was told he got them from a black guy in Walterboro. I was told he had some connections in Beaufort.
“I’ve never seen those people. I’ve never dealt with those people. So I don’t know.
He also named someone named Kenny Hughes and Barbara Mixon, who worked for his mother.
Murdaugh also states that the .38 revolver came from his mother’s house.

Dick Harpootlian conducted the phone interview with Murdo while he sat with SLED Agent Kelly on the phone with him.
Murdaugh clarified at the end of the interview that he intended to get his son Buster with life insurance.
Harpootlian appears surprised that Eddie didn’t try to talk to him.

Describing Eddie, Murdaugh says he sometimes paid him $50k to $60k a week for pills.
He says he told Eddie to meet him near his mother’s house.
“I told him that things were getting really bad and that it would be better if I wasn’t here.”
“I told him to shoot me,” Murdaugh said. “I think he was a little surprised at first.”
Murdo said that Eddie agreed and gave him a .38 revolver.
They headed out to Salkehatchee Road and Murdaugh slashed her tire with a knife, which she threw in the road.
He shot her in the back of the head and Murdaugh says she briefly lost her sight and fell down.
Murdaugh remembers that a car stopped and tried to help him and another kept going.
