7th grader wins $10,000 after drilling half-court shot: ‘Through the power of God, it went in’

A seventh grade He hit the biggest jackpot of his life when he made $10,000 after a flawless shooting challenge at a high-school basketball game.

JJ Frank’s Minot, ND Made a layup, free throw, three-pointer and half-court shot in 25 seconds to win the grand prize at Bishop Ryan Catholic School last week.

Frank had to make shots and catch the ball himself, and he brought down all four consecutive downs.

After making the first three quite effortlessly, he wound up and launched the Hail Mary which was nothing but the net. He was immediately mobbed by players and spectators alike.

“You only get one shot at it, so if you miss, you miss,” he said. Valley News Live,

“I was thinking, ‘I’m probably not going to make it, but I just have to try and try and hope it goes in.'”

A Bishop Ryan player compared Clarke to a goat.

“Now tom brady Throws it, banks it. It’s just like, ‘No way.’ Everyone hit the court, and it was great,” Ramsey Walz said.

Frank knew his chances were slim, but with a little faith, he made every kid – and many adults – dream.

“He was one in a million, and through the power of God, it went in,” Clarke said.

“The first three, I thought he had some basketball talent, but the last shot, really, I think it was probably more of a gift from God than some natural talent,” said his mother, Mary.

Frank is a player on the K-12 school’s junior-high team. He said that the money is going directly to his college fund.
