Coffee County officials on Tuesday arrested 43-year-old Martha Sasser Pope for being a school employee who engaged in sex with a student, a felony.
According to a criminal complaint, Pope, who was appointed as secretary at Elba High School in 2020, engaged in oral sex with a student on September 10.

An unnamed source told the station WDHN That the victim is a 16-year-old boy.
The complaint did not specify how or when law enforcement officials learned of Pope’s alleged sexual misconduct.

Pope was released from the Coffee County Jail within an hour of his arrest after posting a $5,000 bond.
