2 arrested after stealing tourist van located at Walmart parking lot in Peterborough: Police – Peterborough | Globalnews.ca

Two Peterborough, Ontario, residents have been arrested in connection with a stolen vehicle south of town earlier this week.

on Tuesday Peterborough Police Service Reported 2004 Ford Great West camping van A property in Cavan Monaghan Township was stolen from the garage.

At around 4 p.m. on Thursday, officers responded to reports of a vehicle sighting in a Walmart parking lot on Chemong Road in the city’s north end.

A man was found sitting in the driver’s seat and a woman in the passenger’s seat. With the help of the K9 Gryphon, the police determined that they too were in possession of the stolen property.

The couple was arrested and the woman allegedly spat on the officers while being kept in a police cell in the police station.

A 42-year-old man was charged with two counts of possession of property obtained by felony exceeding $5,000 and breaking into and entering a home

A 49-year-old Peterborough woman was charged with possession of property obtained by crime of more than $5,000 and assaulting a peace officer.

Police said both the accused have been kept in custody and are to appear in court in Peterborough on Friday for a bail hearing.
