One person was killed and two others were injured when a boiler exploded at a powder coating workshop on Ajwa Road in Vadodara on Monday.
The blast took place in a unit named M/s Kachhawala Brothers. The workshop owner’s brother Dilawar was killed in the blast.

Vadodara Emergency and Fire Services (VFES) officials said three gas cylinders found at a dangerous location inside the unit were removed to avoid further explosions.

VFES officials said they received information about the blast at Sardar Estate on Monday afternoon.

The fire brigade officer present at the spot said, “The unit named M/s Kachwala Brothers is doing powder coating work. They had a boiler which exploded around noon, injuring one person named Dilawar, who was seriously injured. The owner is Shabbir Kachwala’s brother. Dilawar succumbed to his injuries in a private hospital… two others who sustained minor injuries are being treated.”

“We have started the investigation and are yet to find out whether the unit was authorized and following the form… There are glass pieces everywhere, and a brick wall has collapsed,” the official said. According to residents, there were only three people inside the unit when the explosion occurred.
