Youth arrested for trying to extort Rs 35 lakh from bakery owner

The Mumbai Crime Branch on Tuesday arrested a 25-year-old man for allegedly demanding extortion of Rs 35 lakh from a bakery owner in the western suburbs. Police said the accused, identified as Sadiq-ul-Haq, is a former employee of the complainant and planned to commit the crime after learning from YouTube.

According to police officials, Sadiq first called the complainant on the night of July 9. He alleged that he works for Chhota Shakeel and is part of D-Gang after which he demanded money.

After this, the bakery owner lodged a complaint with the Oshiwara police, after which a case of extortion was registered.

The Anti-Extortion Cell probing the matter said Sadiq made another call on July 13.

An officer said, “The second time he used the phone of a tea shop owner to make the phone call, after which the owner of the phone was traced in Andheri and later with the help of the owner of the tea shop, the accused was traced. was imposed and he was arrested.” During interrogation, the accused told the police that he decided to commit the crime as he wanted to get married.
