Yoga is becoming a way of life: Prime Minister Narendra Modi

The eighth edition of International Yoga Day was celebrated with enthusiasm across the country today and Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself displayed his yoga skills at an event in Mysore, Karnataka.

Disabled and orphaned children, transgenders, HIV-positive people and ASHA workers were among those who participated in the 45-minute yoga session with Modi at the Mysore Palace Ground. Karnataka Governor Thaawar Chand Gehlot, CM Basavaraj Bommai and Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal were also among those who attended the event. The Prime Minister said that Yoga has started playing an important role in shaping global health programmes. Yoga brings peace to our universe and gives humanity the hope of a healthy life. The day has now become a global festival. Instead of just individual betterment, yoga is now being used for the betterment of the entire humanity. This time the theme of Yoga Day was ‘Yoga for Humanity’.

The Prime Minister thanked the United Nations and the international community for adopting the theme.
