Four policemen guarding a polio vaccination team were killed and two others were injured on Friday when unidentified assailants opened fire on a polio vaccination team in Pakistan’s restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Police gave this information.
Officials said the incident took place in Gul Iman area of Tank district, where unidentified gunmen ambushed a police van carrying a door-to-door polio vaccination team.
Two policemen injured in the attack have been admitted to a nearby hospital, he said. According to officials, the police have launched a search operation in the area. According to locals, a prolonged exchange of fire between the police and the attackers continued. So far no organization has claimed responsibility for the attack.
