Woman claims she was ‘virtually’ gang raped in Metaverse – Bharat Times English News

Ethical issues are already starting to show up on the metaverse, and the newly created meta network is facing even more problems. A 43-year-old British woman claims she was groped in a virtual world by a group of male avatars. A woman named Nina Jane Patel has also written her ordeal in one middle rankwhere she speaks of being “verbally and sexually harassed” by three or four male avatars in Meta’s Horizon venues.

“It was real. It was a nightmare”, is what Neena wrote in the post. She has even talked about male avatars touching her character’s body inappropriately, and took screenshots for several minutes.

All these instances prompted Nina to immediately sign out of the virtual metaverse. He said the mail That he had to take off the virtual reality (VR) headset to end the nightmare.

Nina’s post also touches on some important aspects about the Metaverse created by Mark Zuckerberg & Co. She wants people to understand that beneath all the character drama and surreal experience, there is a certain ‘reality’ to the environment. But if women are facing harassment in the metaverse or any virtual world for that matter, the issues are largely symptomatic of people living in both worlds.

Responding to Nina’s story, a META spokesperson quoted business insider Said, ‘We are sorry to hear this happened. We want everyone to have a positive experience at Horizon Venue, and easily find safety equipment that can help in a situation like this – and help us investigate and take action.”

This sounds like a case of deja vu with the Nina episode, and we’re hoping Meta gets to the depth of the matter and prosecutes the perpetrators to set the right example for their future in the Metaverse.
