Woman accused of gang rape in Lahore withdraws complaint

a woman who alleged She was raped by three men in Lahore by luring her to travel from Karachi and withdrew her case, saying the FIR lodged on her complaint was the result of a “misunderstanding”, it came to light on Tuesday.

On the complaint of an 18-year-old woman, an FIR was registered on November 28 at the North Cantt police station in Lahore against three suspects on charges of rape and abetment.

But a day later, on 29 November, she recorded a statement before Lahore Cantt Judicial Magistrate Shahid Ali Khokhar: “I filed an FIR against the accused persons due to misunderstanding. No one did zina (rape) with me. I do not want to file an FIR [and] Please can it be cancelled.”

Earlier, the woman had also refused to get herself medically examined.

The woman has said in her complaint that she is a resident of Quetta Town Society in Karachi. She said that she used to play the online game Player Unknown Battlegrounds (PUBG), during which she became friends with a man named ‘H’.

“He asked me to come to Lahore and said we will get married,” the victim said. He said that she had reached the city by train on November 23. She said that ‘H’ took her to the hotel everyday where he raped her for three days.

The FIR states that he even refused to marry her and dropped her at the railway station on November 26 and left. The victim said that while she was waiting at the station, two men named ‘W’ and ‘Ha’ met her and promised to get her a job.

He said that the two took him to a house on Sarwar Road where two more men helped him to a room. The victim said that ‘W’ and ‘Ha’ raped her several times, but eventually she managed to escape.

She had urged the authorities to take action against the three men who raped her.

Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar had also taken cognizance of the incident and sought a report from the police officer of the capital city of Lahore. He also directed the officials to arrest the culprits at the earliest and assured justice to the victim.
