Holi 2022: We live in a country with a population diversity of many cultures, which celebrates different types of festivals throughout the year. Therefore, while fixing the bank holidays, our government and different union territories keep in mind the religious sentiments of the people of different states so that everyone can enjoy them equally without any worries.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) classifies holidays for banks in different cities into three categories. The categories are – Holidays under Negotiable Instruments Act, Holidays under Negotiable Instruments Act and Real Time Gross Settlement Holidays and closure of accounts of banks.

Therefore, it is important for us to know how many days in which month the bank service will be closed in different cities. Because these days customers will neither be able to deposit nor withdraw money from their respective bank branches. According to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), banks will remain closed for 13 days for different holidays in different states or cities, including Holi in March, apart from second and fourth Saturdays and Sundays.

One of the biggest festivals of India, Holi is celebrated in various states, especially in Bihar, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Maharashtra and West Bengal. This year the festival of colors is falling on March 18. Barring a few exceptions, banks across the country will remain closed on this occasion.

March 17: Holika Dahan, this auspicious ritual will take place on Thursday. Banks will remain closed on this day in places like Dehradun, Kanpur, Lucknow and Ranchi.

March 18: Similarly in Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Gangtok, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Lucknow, Kolkata, Mumbai, Nagpur, Ranchi, Shillong, Jammu and Srinagar on the main occasion of Holi/Dhuleti/Dolyatra on Friday.

March 19: Banks will remain closed in Bhubaneswar, Patna and Imphal on Saturdays of Holi/Yaosang.
