When and where is the next Formula E race?

2023 Formula E The season is up and running, with the first success of the campaign seeing a win in style for Jake Dennis in Mexico City.

Avalanche Andretti’s 27-year-old produced a masterclass to finish about eight seconds clear The drivers are facing a real struggle this year with the runner-up, Dennis. “It’s physically very difficult to drive these cars. Obviously, with less grip, it makes everything so challenging, but even more rewarding when you win, you win by 7.5 seconds. The fans here have been sensational on that last lap. I could actually hear them cheering,” he said after his win.

There are still 15 more races to go though and a lot could change – especially next time it’s the first double race weekend. This time FE is off to Asia.

All eyes are on the Gen3 car, set to be the fastest, lightest and most efficient electric vehicle ever built – as well as being the most durable yet true to the sport’s values. How each team and driver handles the new build will determine how successful their coming year can be.

When does season 9 start and end?

The new season of Formula E runs from mid-January to late July, with a record 16 rounds of races in 11 cities around the world. The finale is in London on 30 July 2023.

When and where is the next race?

Season 9 continues with double-headers on 27 and 28 January 2023 in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia. All times are GMT.

The race can be viewed live on the Formula E YouTube channel, the Channel 4 Sport YouTube channel and on the Eurosport player app across all devices.

What are the rule changes in 2023?

The most notable change is that this year there will be a set number of laps for each track instead of timed races. Additional laps will be used where safety cars and other interruptions are needed.

Formula E also this year falls in line with other championships in offering opportunities to rookies, as at least two free practice sessions throughout the season must be given to drivers with no prior series experience.

There will also be races later in the season that pilot the ‘pit stop’ effect – which will use the world’s most advanced EV batteries to boost energy in mandatory 30-second stops to recharge. After this the output power of the cars will be increased.

The ‘Fanboost’ feature has been dropped from Formula E since last season.

There are a total of 11 teams and 22 drivers (plus reserves), with some significant changes this year – including the return of maserati to single-seater racing for the first time in 60 years and farewell to former FE champion Nyck de Vries, who Has signed with F1 side AlphaTauri,
