Following assurances from the embassy, ​​the students did not leave the eastern Ukrainian city, which has been witness to intense fighting between Russian and Ukrainian troops.

“The last two weeks have been extremely painful and challenging for all of us. Hardly anyone would have seen such pain and disruption in our lives,” said Satpathy.

“Nevertheless, I am proud of the maturity and patience displayed by our Indian citizens, especially young Indian students, to remain brave during this difficult time,” he said.
