Water floods the cabin of a British Airways flight at 30,000 feet on an Airbus A380 from Heathrow

Water flooded the cabin of a British Airways flight at 30,000 feet as crews were trying their best to stop the flow on an Airbus A380 from Heathrow to Washington DC.

  • Flight BA292 from Heathrow caused a leak in the seven-hour flight to Washington
  • Water from a faulty valve on an Airbus A380. But the economy went down the stairs
  • A BA hostess can be heard whispering ‘no f****** they’ while pouring water

a British Airways There was chaos in the flight as water filled the cabin.

The crew members tried desperately to stop the continuous flow of water as the plane soared 30,000 feet into the sky.

The aircraft, on transatlantic flight BA292, took off from Heathrow last Friday at 10.40 pm and landed in Washington DC 10.55 am on Saturday.

The Airbus A380 is a double-decker aircraft with two flights of stairs, one in the front and one at the rear of the airplane with space for 500 passengers.

BA has told us that a fault in a water storage unit in the rear of the plane caused a flight of stairs used by economy passengers on board the plane.

BA said: ‘At no point was there a safety issue, it was from the clean drinking water supply.

The flight continued safely to Washington and landed normally.

‘A faulty valve was replaced and the problem fixed.’

The shocking technical fault occurred at the end of the 7-hour flight to the States.

Engineers managed to fix the valve and the same day the plane was back in the air.

BA has told us this is rare because a staff member had not seen this happen in the three and a half years working there.

An airline employee told Sun: ‘This was not a flight for nervous passengers.

‘An inflight waterfall is not a regular feature in BA. It looked more British waterways than British Airways.

‘The crew thanked that the leak occurred at the end of the transatlantic crossing.

‘There were some people who were saying their hail Mary, but the staff was all professional.’

In one video a BA hostess can be heard whispering ‘no f****** way’ while water is poured into the cabin.

Passengers were concerned with the water at the end of the flight as some were concerned that the water might damage the onboard electricity.

An airline spokesperson said: ‘While there were no security issues at any point, the area was quickly isolated and the flight continued as planned.’

This is the first time one of BA’s A380 jets has experienced a leak in flight, although Airbus has been hit by similar incidents in the past.
