“We’re all competition. We’re not going to sugar coat it,” Wentz said Sunday, when asked who would be named the starter in Week 17.
“We all want to play. We all want to be out there. We all want to lead the charge. If we get lost in this league, in this situation – we’ll be out really quickly.”

Wentz was sidelined with a broken finger in Week 6, but remained the backup despite being elevated from injured reserve on December 12.
Washington won five of its first six games without the veteran quarterback, but the two straight losses certainly played into Ron Rivera’s decision to start Wentz this week.

If the Commanders win over the Browns on Sunday and if the Detroit Lions, Seattle Seahawks and green Bay Packers Everyone loses their respective games. If they win the season, they will also go ahead.
“It’s good to still be in control of your own destiny,” Wentz said Sunday. “Obviously something that close – it’s hard but at the same time still having control over our destiny means a lot.”
