Vikings’ Harrison Phillips buys food for Damar Hamlin’s family, those taking care of him

minnesota vikings Defensive lineman Harrison Phillips is with the Bills in 2021 and was teammates with Hamlin during his rookie season. On Tuesday, as Hamlin’s family and others waited for any updates on his condition, Phillips bought dinner for his family, the Bills’ training staff and the doctors and nurses who man the University of Cincinnati Medical Center’s ICU. They do anything they can to help Hamlin. ,

Phillips told reporters that he was at a Minnesota Timberwolves game with teammate Sheldon Day and his teammates when he heard Hamlin go into cardiac arrest and fall to the ground at Pecor Stadium.

“We left the game early, and I was just refreshing Twitter every second, reading every tweet out there, just waiting to hear what was happening and what might happen. Sent a bunch of text messages to.” [former] teammate,” Phillips said via the team’s website.

“For all those fellows who had gathered there around him, it was a very difficult scene to see. You can try to portray it as best you can, but it was a very difficult scene. So I was clearly praying. I got down on my knees, praying and trying to figure out, ‘What can you do?’ There’s really nothing you can do to try to reach out to everyone and make sure they know they’re loved and bring as much support as possible.”

Phillips said he was eventually able to connect with someone at the hospital and some sort of food was bought for everyone involved.

NFL legend Eric Dickerson hoped the league would give him proper health care when he knew Hamlin’s injury was bad.

“I found a sandwich shop and I made food — chips, drinks and sandwiches, everything I could find, salads, whatever — for all the doctors, the nurses on the ICU ER floor, for Damar’s family members, who was there. ordered the bill. they were able to deliver for dinner last night. i have a buffet of chipotle stuff [Wednesday night] Coming over for dinner for all the doctors and nurses – I think there are about 50. I just wanted to try something,” he said.

“My foundation, Harrison’s Playmakers, has a bigger heart than any of the kids I work with. They also wanted to find ways to help. I donated [Hamlin’s] Nidhi, but some parents and some kids were asking me, ‘What else can we do as playmakers?’ So I opened a small branch of my foundation that they can support… to do an event in Asphalt’s honor that will be a celebration of his life and his recovery in the months to come. But they were just asking for an outlet to see what else they could do, so I wanted to provide one for them.”

Donations to Hamlin’s Chasing M’s Foundation since the event have exceeded $7 million.

“Damar is in critical condition in the ICU and has shown signs of improvement yesterday and night,” the team said.
