Video shows Squeegee worker attacking a driver at a busy Baltimore intersection

Baltimore (WJZ) — A video obtained by WJZ shows Squeegee workers attacking a driver at a red light outside Mount Royal Avenue in Baltimore.

The video was captured on Thursday afternoon from a camera installed inside a car behind the incident.

The video shows a squeeze worker banging the car and opening the car door. After the driver closes it, the worker opens it again, appearing to hit the person inside the car.

The owners of the video, who wish to remain anonymous, gave it to police, who encouraged them to share it publicly to help identify suspects.

“It’s like any other type of business or hustle. You’re just trying to make a profit,” said Davian Hodges, a Bell attendant at Hotel Revival who used to squeeze. “Basically, that’s all, Gets in your way without any hassle or hassle, but when you’re doing it, it just seems to get in your way.”

Now, Hodges is part of Mayor Brandon Scott’s 90-day Squeegee plan, facilitated by the Office of African American Male Engagement.

“It’s bringing them into the corporate world, who you are or your past experiences are being accepted as transferable skill sets,” said Christia Scott, Human Resources Manager at Hotel Revival.

Tavon Chavius ​​squeezed in for five years in Baltimore. But through the squeegee plan, she is now a house attendant at Hotel Revival. Chavius ​​says he loves his job.

But for his friends who are still squeezing, he says he can help them the best he can by setting an example.

“I was doing the same thing as him, so I’m trying to make my future better,” Chavius ​​said. “So now, I can show them a better way.”

Nineteen men have been employed through the program, including four at Hotel Revival, and seven more will soon begin the training program.
