The collision happened at around 3:45 pm on Sunday in the 3300 block of 43 Avenue in Vernon.

Young was walking along the sidewalk towards a nearby bus stop.

After the accident, says Vernon Mann, he moved his wheelchair a few feet down the street to test whether it was still walkable.

“When I go up four or five feet, immediately behind me I hear the slamming of the car door and the sound of it chipping,” Young said.

He said he turned his wheelchair and saw the vehicle on the road waiting at a traffic light.

Young says he is troubled by his “lack of consideration for others”.

“For someone to do what they’ve done….and he has the gall to turn around and just walk away to ignore the matter, avoid the matter, that’s totally wrong,” Young said.
