US sanctions Lebanon money exchanger for alleged ties to Hezbollah

BEIRUT: The US Treasury said Tuesday it was imposing sanctions on Lebanese money exchanger Hassan Mokald and his business for allegedly having financial ties to the proscribed group Hezbollah.
The Treasury said that their business, CTEX, was licensed by Lebanon’s central bank. Neither Mokald nor the central bank immediately responded to Reuters requests for comment.
