NEW YORK: US prosecutors have charged three members of an Eastern European criminal organization with plotting to murder a journalist and activist who is a US citizen, Attorney General Merrick Garland said on Friday.
The Justice Department said in a statement that Rafat Amirov, Polad Omarov and Khalid Mehdiyev were charged with murder for hire and money laundering for their roles in the failed Tehran-backed plot.
