UP assembly elections: Congress will start mega public relations campaign, leaders will camp in villages

Ahead of the assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, the state unit of the Congress on Thursday announced that it will complete 75 years of the country’s independence by launching a mega public relations campaign ‘Jai Bharat Maha Sampark Abhiyan’ in the electoral state.

Covering an estimated 90 lakh people in 30,000 gram sabhas, the campaign will be launched from August 19.

During the three-day long mega campaign, party leaders will camp for 75 hours in gram sabhas and discuss the problems of the local people in these areas.

The announcement comes a day after the party’s central leadership reconstituted its election panel for the state.

Party leaders will also celebrate Rajiv Gandhi Jayanti on August 20 as ‘Sadbhavna Diwas’ in these gram sabhas. On this occasion, he will also take the oath of the constitution in selected villages.

Sharing the details of the campaign, Congress state president Ajay Kumar Lallu said, “The history of Congress since independence is full of sacrifices. Therefore, on the instructions of the party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, senior leaders will camp for 75 hours in gram sabhas and wards.

During his stay, party leaders and workers would honor freedom fighters and their families by presenting them mementos, he said. The party leaders will also raise issues related to stray cattle as well as farming, unemployment and price rise and will hold discussions with the local people during their stay.

Meanwhile, Priyanka on Thursday targeted BJP The government stressed on the issue of vacancies and “cold” recruitment, saying the state needs an alternative that gives priority to the youth.

In a tweet in Hindi on the occasion of International Youth Day, the Congress general secretary asked whether the government can promise the youth that when they seek employment, they will get their due and not with threats and lathis.

He alleged that lakhs of government posts are vacant in the state and the recruitment drive is stalled. Vadra said, “There is a need in the state to give priority to the youth.”

The Congress is intensifying its attack on the BJP government over the alleged rise in the economy and unemployment.
