Unseasonal rain likely in North Gujarat on December 28: IMD

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of unseasonal rains in the northern districts of Gujarat on December 28, which may affect the already distressed agriculture sector.

The Meteorological Department has predicted “light rain in districts of North Gujarat region including Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Mehsana and Patan along with Kutch”.

At the same time, the weather will remain dry over the rest of the state including all the districts of South Gujarat, Saurashtra and remaining districts of North Gujarat. The IMD said that there will be no major change in the minimum temperature for the next two days.

However, during the three days after December 28, the temperature is likely to drop across the state. The IMD has predicted a drop of 2-4 degree Celsius in the northern districts during the three days.

The forecast comes even as minimum temperatures started rising across the state over the past few days, after a significant drop a few days back.

On Sunday, Ahmedabad recorded a minimum temperature of 13.5 degrees Celsius, followed by Naliya at 13.6 degrees Celsius. Deesa, Keshod and Mahuva recorded minimum temperatures of 14.2, 15.6 and 15.9 degrees Celsius, respectively.

On Sunday, Mahuva recorded 29.8 degrees Celsius, with the maximum temperature reaching almost 30 degrees Celsius.
