A university professor has sparked outrage by claiming that it is not immoral for adults to be sexually attracted to children and that pedophiles should be labeled ‘moderately-attracted individuals’.
Elin Walker, who is transgender and teaches sociology and criminal justice at Old Dominion University Virginiawrote a controversial book attempting to destroy pedophilia, titled A Long Dark Shadow: Minor-Attracted People and Their Pursuit of Dignity.

Walker clarified that child sexual abuse is ‘Never, Ever OK’, but said sexual solicitations towards minors are not necessarily immoral, as long as they are not acted upon.
Walker has written a book titled A Long Dark Shadow: Minor-Attracted People and Their Pursuit of Dignity in an effort to destroy pedophilia.

He continued: ‘We have a tendency to classify people with these attractions as evil or morally corrupt.

Walker’s comments received an overwhelming response after they were shared on social media.

The professor made a statement with Old Dominion University on Saturday to clarify the controversial comments.
Walker said: ‘I want to be clear: child sexual abuse is an unforgivable crime.
‘As an assistant professor of sociology and criminal justice, the goal of my research is to prevent crime.
‘I began this research hoping to gain an understanding of a group that has not previously been studied to identify ways to protect children.’

The professor said that he counseled women victims of sexual violence which helped form their views.
But college officials distanced themselves from the comments.
He said: ‘Following the recent social media activity and direct access to the institution, it is important to share that Old Dominion, as a caring and inclusive community, is responsible for crimes against children or criminal activity of any kind. does not endorse or promote.’
Walker has been teaching at the college since 2019 and some students said they were upset by the comments.
Jaylen Jackson told WTKR:’Honestly it just sounds gross. Just because you’re not acting on it, it’s weird to admit it and not okay at all. It feels uncomfortable to know that there is someone like this on campus.
Jonathan Mukmuye said: ‘I don’t think it makes a bad impression on the school, but I think it’s strange that we have a professor who thinks so.’
