UN carves out sanctions exemptions for humanitarian aid

UNITED NATIONS, United States: The UN Security Council adopted a resolution on Friday to allow humanitarian aid to continue to flow to countries targeted by UN sanctions, particularly frozen assets.
The text states that “payments of money,” “economic resources” or “the provision of goods and services necessary to ensure the timely delivery of humanitarian assistance … are permitted and this is an asset freeze imposed by the Council.” Not a violation.”
