UK’s Rwanda deportation plan leading to suicide attempts: charity

LONDON: Suicide attempts by UK asylum seekers threatened to be sent to Rwanda under new deportation schemes have been reported by refugee charities who warn they are being “driven to despair”.
Suicide attempts were reported after Home Secretary Priti Patel announced that the first group of asylum seekers who entered Britain via the English Channel would be deported to Rwanda on 14 June.
A female Iranian asylum seeker told charities that she attempted suicide because she felt she was facing deportation to an African country.
