Ukraine crisis: 13 killed in Russian attacks on Kyiv TV tower, housing block in Kharkiv – India Times Hindi News

New Delhi: Tensions between Russia and Ukraine continued for the sixth day after Russian airstrikes on the main TV tower in Kyiv, AFP news agency quoted official sources as saying.

Ukraine’s interior ministry said a Russian airstrike struck Kyiv’s main TV tower, bringing some state broadcasts to a halt. It said television channels would be shut down for some time after the blast.

Ukrainian authorities have released footage of burnt bodies and damaged cars in the apparent Russian attack, which knocked down some state broadcasters but left the structure intact, AFP reports.

Meanwhile, Ukraine said eight people were killed on Tuesday after a Russian airstrike on a residential building in the eastern city of Kharkiv, AFP reports. Russian missiles had earlier destroyed an administrative building in the country’s second largest city.

Ukraine’s emergency service said: “Eight people were killed and six were injured in Kharkiv as a result of the airstrike.” It said rescue workers pulled two people alive from the rubble.

Kharkiv is the second largest city in Ukraine and is located close to the Russian border. The city has seen fierce fighting between the Ukrainian army and Russian troops.

On Tuesday, Russia asked citizens in Ukraine’s capital Kyiv to leave the city as it warned of attacks against intelligence facilities. The Russian Defense Ministry said it would target Ukraine’s security service and the 72nd Main Information and Psychological Operations Center in Kyiv, AFP reported.
