LONDON: UK police on Tuesday arrested a man suspected of playing a “significant role” in the deaths of at least 27 people who were attempting to cross the Channel in a dinghy last November.
The National Crime Agency (NCA) said a 32-year-old man was arrested at an address near Cheltenham in south-west England “on suspicion of being a member of an organized crime group that attempted to transport migrants to Britain in a small boat”. Conspiracy was hatched.”
NCA investigators are working with the French authorities to track down those responsible for the tragedy.
