According to PA media this evening, public services in Surrey are considering declaring a major event in response to the fuel supply crisis.
Surrey County Council Conservative leader Tim Oliver told the PA news agency the option would be considered by the local resilience forum, which includes the local NHS and police, on Monday evening.
“We are facing the same problems as everyone else so we are deciding whether or not to announce a major event that will give the platform the power to prioritize key workers.
“We’ve got access to fuel supplies that we can designate for priority workers so that social workers can be given a card that enables them to access those supplies.
