Two killed, over 30 injured in attack on Bahawalnagar Muharram procession

Bahawalnagar: Two people were killed and over 30 injured in an attack on a Muharram procession with firecrackers on Thursday afternoon.

Police said the incident took place when the Muharram procession was passing through the City Chowk area of ​​Bahawalnagar.

The medical superintendent of DHQ Bahawalnagar confirmed the death of two people in the incident and said that the injured have been admitted to various hospitals in the city.

After the blast, a police contingent reached the area and conducted searches. A suspect was taken into custody.

Taking cognizance of the incident, Chief Minister Usman Buzdar condoled the death and entrusted IG Punjab to take action and arrest the culprits immediately.

After the incident, the Chief Minister along with the Provincial Law Minister visited the Safe City Authority to inspect the control room. There he was briefed about the Bahawalnagar attack and the response of the CTD and police forces.

The Chief Minister entrusted the task of conducting a search operation and submitting a report to the CTD after completing the investigation into the incident.
