Two-day special session of Maharashtra Legislative Assembly from July 3 instead of July 2

The two-day special session of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly will begin here from July 3. Officials gave this information on Friday.

A release issued by the State Legislature Secretariat to the members of the Legislative Assembly said that the election for the post of Speaker of the House will be held on July 3. Nominations for the post will be accepted till noon on July 2.

Soon after taking over as the new Chief Minister of the state during a cabinet meeting chaired by Eknath Shinde on Thursday, it was decided that a special session of the Assembly would be held on July 2 and 3. However, the dates have been rescheduled.

A trust vote is also likely to take place during the session.

Shinde, who has the support of 39 MLAs from the splinter Shiv Sena group, 10 MLAs from smaller parties and 106 independents and BJP, is expected to move the confidence motion on the floor of the House during the two-day session.
