Two children aged 2 and 11 in the car at the Burger King drive-thru at Durham Company were hit by bullets.

DURHAM, NC (WTVD) – Two children were shot Thursday night in the vehicle they were in.

Shooting took place at 1605 US 70 East at Burger King in Durham County, around 7 p.m.

The sheriff’s office said the car with the children was in the drive-thru of a fast food restaurant when the shooting took place.

The bullet broke the window of the car and hit two children, aged 2 and 11, sitting in the back seat.

The relatives got down from the car and took the children to the hospital for treatment. He has been discharged from the hospital and officials say he is fine.

The Durham County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.

Sheriff Clarence Birkhead told ABC 11 on Friday: “(It was a) family outing and it’s just sad that we are experiencing gun violence in Durham and my office is committed to doing everything we can.” can.”

Witnesses said they heard gunshots nearby when the vehicle hit the road.

Investigators believe the family was not the intended target.

No suspects were seen and no one was arrested.
